4 Tips to Help Maintain Clean Commercial Carpets This Fall

What is the first thought that comes to your mind when you think of the Fall season? Personally, we think about parties… specifically, office parties!

As we enter into this lovely Fall season, we begin to think about the Fall entertaining, such as Halloween parties, Office-giving, Christmas parties, etc..

These celebrations can make keeping those office carpets and floors clean, a bit of a challenge. You have to deal with extra foot traffic, more spills from food or drinks, and accident-prone children of your employers and coworkers!

And we’ll just go ahead and say what you’re already thinking- office carpet replacement is not cheap. No carpet replacement is cheap! So you’re going to want to do everything in your power to prevent some of those inevitable party-messes this Fall.

These are a few of the problems that might occur during your office celebrations this season, as well as 4 Tips to Help Maintain Clean Commercial Carpets This Fall:

Choose The Right Cleaning Solution

The first step to any successful, instant party clean-up is to have the right cleaning solutions on deck and ready to serve ya.

If you follow Zerorez® Tucson, then you may have already heard about Powered Water®… the best cleaning solution to have on hand in case of those party fouls like beer and wine stains, a dropped greasy slice of pizza, and whatever else a rowdy office party might throw at you.

Using Powered Water® not only allows you to purge those pesky stains right away, but it also allows you to Clean Green™ like we do, as our Powered Water® is only water that is enhanced through a patented electrolysis process- oxidized to create a powerful cleaning solution, free from harmful toxins or chemicals.

Go ahead and clean up that party stain with Powered Water®. Spray the solution on the stained area and let it sit for about 5 minutes, then blot the stain with a clean cloth.

Because office carpet is so tightly wound and heavy-duty, you won’t have to use a ton of elbow grease to get these stains out. Simply blot the stain up with Powered Water®, and then place a paper towel or a fresh cloth/towel on the spot with a heavy book on top for a few hours.

This will help soak up any moisture left behind in the carpet, and deter people from stepping on the wet area and tracking moisture around the carpets!

Start Blotting, Not Rubbing

That brings us to our next point. Tip #2 of the Zerorez® Tucson 4 Tips to Help Maintain Clean Commercial Carpets This Fall is blotting the stained areas, not rubbing them in!

As we said above, once you experience a party foul, you’ll want to act fast by applying our Powered Water® solution and blotting. Not rubbing! That’s important!

This will put a small amount of pressure to soak up the stain, as opposed to rubbing, which will only push the particles further into the carpet and spread them around to other fibers that might not have been touched by the stain.

Blot starting from the outside of the stain and work your way in toward the center, so as to prevent the stain from spreading! This tip could mean the difference between the life or death of your carpet, yikes!

Always blot, don’t rub- that’s the lesson of the day, kids.

How Do You Get Wax Out of The Carpet?

With holidays, comes prettily scented Fall and Winter candles… yum! So dreamy…

However, unless you use fake electric candles, you might end up with wax on your carpet at some point during the Fall season. Luckily those industrial office carpets make it pretty easy to clean that wax out, but how?

You’re going to need some supplies from home… namely your clothes iron.

Start by placing a hand towel or cloth over the spot of the crime, and, once heated thoroughly, place the clothes iron over the towel above the wax spot. We also suggest using a white cloth or towel, as colored ones may transfer the color onto the carpet.

Once the wax is warmed up once again, you’ll want to take a butter knife or pocket knife to scrape the wax off the carpeting. After that, we’ll switch it up with a paper towel. Lay the paper towel over the carpet-wax and iron over the top of the paper towel. This will allow the wax to melt and easily cling to the paper. Do this a few times over, and the wax should be completely MIA!

This method also works on table cloths, thank goodness right? Though we should warn you- don’t use the iron for more than 30 seconds on the spot at a time, or you risk burning or fraying the carpet fibers.

Cuttin' Out The Candy

Speaking of using knives to scrape wax off the carpet, you can do the same thing with candy! With all the different types of people and their children coming into the office for the holiday party, it’s very possible you’re going to see a candy incident.

There is likely to be lots of candy opened and eaten, and forgotten about at an exciting office party. Then, say so long, as it takes a tumble off the. table and into the office carpet.

If the candy is the type that might just get smushed into the carpet, rather. than melted into it, you may be able to scrape it out with a butter knife.

But if you’ve got a chocolate incident? Well, that’s a whole different story… I’m sorry, but your carpets are screwed… Just kidding! You’ll just have to refer back to Tip #1 of our 4 Tips to Help Maintain Clean Commercial Carpets This Fall. Grab that handy dandy Powered Water® bottle and get to work my friend, ’cause it’s going to be a bumpy ride!

Simply blot the stain up with a cloth and some Powered Water®, and then place a paper towel or a fresh cloth/towel on the spot with a heavy book on top for one day.

Now, let’s talk about what to do if someone gets gum caught into your carpet. Yuck…

To get out the gum, you’ll want to take some ice cubes from the freezer, and freeze the gum with the ice cubes for about 30 seconds. Then it should be easy enough to peel the gum up with a butter knife, and waa-laa!

Again, thank goodness you’re dealing with industrial, tightly wound carpet fibers rather than those long scruffy fibers of the at-home type of carpet… because it would not be quite so easy… You would end up having to cut some of your home carpet fibers up to get that out…

Deep Clean Commercial Carpets Regularly

Now, as you may have noticed, our 4 Tips to Help Maintain Clean Commercial Carpets This Fall was perhaps more about damage control than maintenance tips.

As far as maintenance is concerned, outside of vacuuming and damage control, we suggest professionally cleaning your office floors regularly. Much like having your teeth cleaned, you should probably have your commercial carpets professionally cleaned at least once every six months.

The Zerorez® Tucson magic begins with a “green,” non-toxic pre-spray, followed by an agitation tool that uses counter-rotating brushes to dislodge hair, dead skin, allergens, and deeply embedded dirt from those office carpet fibers that conventional vacuuming does not remove.

Then with our ZR Wand™, we thoroughly rinse the carpet fibers with Powered Water® through a fluid-controlled process, effectively removing hard-to-reach dirt and debris without flooding the carpet’s backing & pad.

We’re able to recover virtually all the water from your carpets. The result is a more complete clean with significantly improved dry times.

Call or book online the expert commercial carpet cleaners at Zerorez® Tucson to make an appointment to get your carpets ready for those exciting fall office parties that are right around the corner!
