Scrubbing at the tile floors isn’t necessarily a chore people look forward to.
However, we’ve got some tile cleaning hacks handy to make the task a little easier for ya.
Studies suggest that it’s best to clean your tile floors or shower tiles at least once a week to keep germs at bay. The tile in your kitchen and bathrooms are especially susceptible.
These areas accumulate and hold stains from mold and mildew, dust, spills, stains, and dirty water. You may have already noticed this in your bathroom or even in the tiles of your kitchen.
Once moisture is added to the mix, forget about it! Woo-wee! This becomes an ideal breeding ground for bacteria. Think hot shower steam creating the perfect warm and moist environment for those little nasties.
Gross.
Luckily, there are some tricks that you can apply to make this less-than-glamorous task a little easier. We’ve got some tile cleaning hacks that are not only green but can help cut down on the time it takes to get bathroom tile squeaky clean:
Is anyone else suddenly craving grapefruit and salt now? Because we certainly are…
Not only is citrus and salt a great combination for your taste buds, but it’s also a fabulous combination for some good green tile cleaning. Nothing is more natural than fruit and salt right?!
Fun Fact: Citrus fruit juices and pulp contain natural substances that will eliminate pathogens such as bacteria and viruses. Lemon-based cleaners are known for eradicating the germs that can make you sick!
But it doesn’t stop there- limes, oranges, and grapefruits also have sanitizing properties!
So how can you clean your TILE with citrus?
Simply take half of the fruit, sprinkle it with some coarse salt, and use it as a natural scrubber on your tile. It’s like a fruity sponge!
Leave your kitchen or bathroom tile glistening, and with the lingering scent of citrus fruit. Nothing like some natural with some aromatherapy benefits to uplift your mood!
Citrus is an excellent way to help remove mildew from tile with the added benefit of leaving a pleasant scent behind, too! Citrus fruits are great for cleaning, especially when combined with basic household products like vinegar and baking soda.
You can’t mention tile cleaning hacks without mentioning baking soda, right?!
Baking soda is extremely useful not only for baking your favorite treats but also for eliminating the grime in that tile grout!
You’ree going to make your cleaning mixture with half a cup of baking soda, 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide, and a squirt of dish soap. You can use a squirt bottle to spritz this mixture on the tiles, or mix it together and a bowl and use a sponge to spread it around.
No matter which way you go, you’ll want to let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes. Afterward, wipe down the tiles with a clean damp cloth or sponge! Or, if you are cleaning the shower tiles, you can simply rinse off the tile using your showerhead!
What makes shower tile cleaning easier? That’s right… steam!
Cleaning your shower tiles can be quite the pain. All those small tiles and grout openings, awkward corners and shapes. So what’s the best way to not only clean the shower tile, but also sanitize it?
Steaming before cleaning! And we don’t mean a professional tile cleaning that uses the steam method, although that is, of course, the ideal situation.
No, we mean running the shower before you clean to loosen the dirt and make for some easier cleaning. Then you can get to work using your baking soda, citrus, or Powered Water® cleaning method on those stubborn tiles!
Uh oh, did we just blow the surprise? Perhaps you are wondering what in the heck Powered Water® is? Let us tell you…
Here’s the thing. All of these cleaning methods are great, but they all require a little elbow grease. What if there was a way you could get the perfect DIY clean on your floor and shower tile without having to scrub with a toothbrush?
Well… there is! It’s called Powered Water® and it’s fabulous my friends!
See, you can simply have a bottle of our patented, electrolyzed Powered Water® on hand for these cleaning endeavors. Spray a generous portion on your tile and grout, let it soak for a few minutes, and simply use a sponge or hand towel to clean it off with.
But if you’re busy prepping for the holidays, your hands already full of other chores, there is another way. A way that doesn’t require hardly any elbow grease…
